Interactive digital maps bring zoo information to life

Onelan reseller Eclipse Digital has installed two outdoor interactive maps at Marwell Zoo in Hampshire, UK.

Using Onelan’s multi-zoned media player ‘Net-Top-Box 660’ and the company’s ‘CMS 100’ server, the digital maps have been created to allow visitors to locate different areas of the park and touch animal sections to learn more about each creature.

Other information on the signage includes forthcoming events, membership information and details of restaurants and shops. The content is updated by Marwell Zoo's in-house marketing and events team, so it can always be completely up-to-date.

“Eclipse Digital has brought a new dimension to how we communicate with and provide information for our visitors. The digital map needed to be easy for all age groups to use, aesthetically pleasing, informative, interactive and easy for us to update and we have been delighted with the end product,” said Becky Glenister, event manager at the zoo.

Glenister said the two maps were situated at the front and back of the zoo, and that there was a long term plan to install more screens at the 566,560sq m (6,098,400sq ft) site.
